It’s been a busy summer for Americans on the move, and Brenden Aaronson seems to be the latest name in the making. Following Leeds United’s relegation to the Championship, it was unclear whether Aaronson would stay or leave, but according to multiple reports, Aaronson could be loaned out to Union Berlin to strengthen the side for their Champions League campaign. Aaronson joins Jordan Pefok in Berlin and will still have an American in the squad, while his style of play is a pretty good match for the Bundesliga.

As a sequel to Tim Weah secures a transfer to Juventus And Christian Pulisic attracts offers worldwide, things begin to fall into place for members of the USMNT squad. Weah could be a starting full-back in Italy, if Pulisic lands in Milan he could be the starting right winger and Aaronson can contribute for Union Berlin all over the field.

Able to play as an attacking midfielder, winger or a box-to-box shuttler, Aaronson’s versatility matches Berlin’s flexible attack. Aaronson may have only been involved in four goals during his first season at Leeds, but with his work rate he brings quite a lot in defense as he helps connect the game and can also make set pieces. Depending on his performance in Berlin or if Leeds United can secure promotion to the Premier League, Aaronson could be in an excellent position for a permanent move or to return to Leeds with more experience under his belt.

It hasn’t been such a rosy summer for other Americans, like Tyler Adams, Folarin Balogun, Weston McKennie and Sergino Dest, and they all have transfer situations that need to be resolved ASAP, but things are moving in the right direction. What is impressive is that the trio that will move all go to top European clubs without scoring eye-watering goals. With Adams linked to Aston Villa and Balogun linked to RB Leipzig, it could be quite an exciting summer for Americans on the move.
