After Pink Bus Service, the Sindh government is going to launch a “Pink Taxi Service” with electric cars for the convenience of female citizens of the province, Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon announced on Thursday.

The announcement was made at a rally in Karachi also attended by Sindh Transport Secretary Salim Rajput and other officials.

The minister said that initially 200 electric taxis will operate in Karachi, 50 of which will be women-only taxis driven by female drivers. He said hiring female drivers and setting up charging and parking depots is yet to be done.

“The electric taxi service will provide people with affordable travel facilities,” said Memon.

He said the project will also provide employment to unemployed youth, while eco-friendly taxis will save oil worth billions of rupees.

The Information Minister further stated that the government of Sindh had decided to run 500 new buses under Peoples Bus Service in the next fiscal year for the convenience of the people.

He also issued directives to concerned authorities to start a new bus route from Hattri to Khesana Mori in Hyderabad.

He said trials for the new flight will begin within the next three days.

“People living in rural areas will get affordable travel facilities with the launch of a new route,” he said.

The minister then issued the guidelines to bring all the buses present in backup on the roads of Karachi for the convenience of the citizens. He said the government will receive 20 new buses by June 15.
