ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Islamabad (IHC) on Wednesday warned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan that his provisional bail in nine different cases would be canceled if he did not appear in court tomorrow (Thursday). to appear.

IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq heard Khan’s bail requests in two separate cases related to threatening officers of the armed forces and the attempted assassination of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha.

During the hearing, the Chief Justice of the IHC noted that the law was very clear and equal for everyone. There was no precedent for exemption from appearing at bail hearings, Judge Farooq noted.

“Even if the PTI chairman were given the waiver, how would his refusal to be part of the investigation be handled?” he asked.

Separately, a divisional bench composed of Judge Farooq and Judge Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb heard Imran Khan’s bail requests in seven cases related to vandalism at the Islamabad Judicial Complex during the PTI chairman’s performance, registered under terrorism clauses.

During the hearing, Khan’s lawyer, Salman Safdar, filed an application requesting the court to grant the earlier exemption from today’s hearing and stated that it was the first time the application had been filed on medical grounds.

He informed the bank that Khan had injured his leg in an attempt on his life last year during a appearance at the Lahore High Court a day before. The PTI chairman’s leg swelled and he was taken to hospital last night, he added.

“It takes time for a wound to heal at age 71,” he argued.

However, CJ Farooq questioned why the PTI chief was not being treated at a government hospital since the medical report came from a private hospital. “You know that only a government hospital report is acceptable in criminal cases,” the judge noted.

Meanwhile, Judge Aurangzeb noted, “Sometimes there is a threat, other times its threat [Khan’s] leg hurts. He has not appeared in the last four hearings because he is ‘privileged’.”

He further noted that if Khan were granted an exemption, any criminal in the future could cite the case as an example and say that there was a precedent for getting bail without going to court.

When Khan’s counsel said the PTI chief would appear once two of the cases had been transferred to the relevant district courts, the IHC CJ noted: “He [Khan] will appear on a day when the sun is shining brightly and the birds are chirping.”

Subsequently, the counsel assured the court that Khan would appear tomorrow, even if he did so in an ambulance. At this, the judge warned Safdar that the PTI chief’s bail would be canceled if he did not appear.
