Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman from Imran Khan Azhar Mashwani, the social media contact, returned home safely on Friday after reportedly “missing” for several days.

Mashwani took over his official Twitter account and wrote: “Alhamdulillah, I just got home safe and sound. Your prayers, efforts and support in these 8 days have been forever indebted to us – Jazak Allah. We pray that our other imprisoned workers will break [their] fast with their families soon.”

It is pertinent to mention here that Mashwani was arrested by the police last week. The charges against him apparently included criticism of the Punjab Police and the Transitional Government for assaulting PTI workers.

on March 23 Khan took to Twitter to claim that his “social media contact Azhar Mashwani” had been “kidnapped” from Lahore.

In his tweet, Imran Khan said: “Enough is enough. Police in Punjab and Islamabad are breaking all laws with impunity while targeting PTI. Today, Azhar Mashwani was kidnapped from Lahore at noon and his whereabouts are unknown. On March 18, Senator Shibli Faraz and Omar Sultan were severely beaten by the ICT police.”

Three days after Khan claimed that Mashwani had been kidnapped, a session court ordered the Lahore Police to file a case on the alleged kidnapping of Mashwani.

Over the weekend, the police registered a case against “unidentified persons” for kidnapping the PTI media person.

The First Incident Report (FIR) claimed that Mashwani had been missing since March 23. He was in a taxi on his way to Zaman Park that day when his mobile phone switched off and he seemed to become unreachable.

Mashwani’s brother in the FIR claimed he was kidnapped by “unidentified people” and taken to an undisclosed location.

Yesterday, Mashwani’s brother submitted an application to the Supreme Court of Lahorerequesting that Mashwani be brought back and appear in court.

The court then ordered the FIA to bring Mashwari to court by April 3.

The PTI also launched a nationwide protest against the “illegal kidnapping” of its SMT members.
