Brittney and Cherelle Griner are fully booked and busy. Just two days after attending the star-studded White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington DC on April 29, the WNBA star and her wife traveled to New York City to make their Met Gala debut. The couple all smiled as they posed on the steps of the museum in monochromatic Calvin Klein designs – Brittney wore a champagne suit and a sheer top that showed off her chest tattoo, while Cherelle exuded classic glamor in a strapless white dress and black pointed-toe heels .

During an interview with Vogue, the pair spoke to red carpet host La La Anthony about the importance of their presence at the event. “It means everything to be here with my wife… We see this event often, and to actually experience it is amazing,” said Brittney, who was named one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People of 2023. Cherelle added “It’s still unreal. At this time last year I missed my wife, so to have her here, to be in this moment is breathtaking.”

Brittney was one of several athletes at this year’s Met Gala, which also featured the soon-to-be mother-of-two Serena Williams, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, tennis all-star Roger Federer and Los Angeles Clippers player Russell Westbrook. The Griners have attended several public events since Brittney returned to the US in December 2022 after serving an unjustified time in a Russian prison for nearly a year. In February, they made a surprise appearance at the NAACP Image Awards, where they urged viewers to “keep fighting to bring home every American still held abroad.”

Read on to see all the sweet photos from the Griners’ classy date night, then catch up with all the other couples who attended the Met Gala together.
