Since the Vikings released Dalvin Cook, the Dolphins are widely regarded as favorites to pursue Pro Bowl running. Cook has only fanned the fire and teased a possible return to his hometown. But now the free agent is hinting at interest from another AFC East contender, taking to social media this week to suggest the Jets are also on his radar, and vice versa.
Although Cook is reportedly in no rush to sign with a new team as he seeks nearly $10 million a year, the seven-year veteran shared and found multiple tweets Wednesday expressing interest in New York. In addition to repost an ESPN segment in which panelists deem him a logical fit for the Jets, Cook also liked one Clip “Pat McAfee Show”. suggest the same. He also liked a fan’s tweet claiming that ESPN has reported that the Jets “do their homework“on the way back.
Cook has made similar proposals regarding a possible partnership with Dolphins, even liking a fan mockup this week of him wearing the Miami colors. He previously shared a photo of himself at the Dolphins stadium on Instagram just after his release. But it’s safe to say, at least in his eyes, Miami isn’t the only logical destination in the AFC East.
Funnily enough, both the Bills and Patriots are also tied to Cook. His younger brother, James, plays for Buffalo, and the Bills have shuffled plenty of RB since Devin Singletary’s departure into free agency. Meanwhile, New England veteran James Robinson has been released and wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins has paid a free visit; Cook recently told ESPN that it would be “epic” to join the same team as Hopkins, who was released by the Cardinals earlier this offseason.
The Jets, for what it’s worth, don’t necessarily have a big need for RB, with promising 2022 rookie Breece Hall topping the depth chart. However, Hall is recovering from an ACL tear, leaving backup players Michael Carter, Zonovan Knight and fifth round rookie Israel Abanikanda as the next best alternatives.
