Dolphins sign Isaiah Wynn for the former Patriots’ first-round pick on a one-year contract, according to report

The Miami Dolphins needed to improve their offensive front this offseason and to try to do so, they bring in a former rival who has experience playing in a number of different positions. According to NFL Mediathe Dolphins sign former New England Patriots offensive lineman Isaiah Wynn for one year.

Wynn was selected by New England with the No. 23 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft from Georgia. He missed his entire rookie season due to a torn Achilles tendon, but returned to start 2019 at left tackle. For the past four years, Wynn has also played left guard and right tackle. While Wynn brings some versatility, injuries have been a problem. In addition to the torn Achilles tendon, Wynn has also dealt with a foot injury and knee injury. He has never played a full season and played a total of 43 games in five years.

The 27-year-old figures to contend for right tackle lane but could also support Terron Armstead down the left. At the very least, this addition brings much-needed depth to a position of distress. Miami spent a lot of money on the offensive line this past off-season, acquiring Armstead as left tackle and center Connor Williams. Despite this, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was sacked 21 times in 13 games played and suffered multiple concussions that left him consider retiring “for a while”. Keeping him upright is a goal for Mike McDaniel in 2023.
