Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb on Tuesday refuted reports that there will be a public holiday on May 25 – Pakistan Martyrs Day – saying they are fake.
The ministry shared the notice about the holiday issued a while back and took to Twitter and said, “Spreading #FakeNews is not only unethical and illegal, but it is also a disservice to the nation.
“It is everyone’s responsibility to reject irresponsible behavior. Reject #FakeNews.”
The Ministry of Information said the notification about the Martyrs’ Day holiday is fake.
Earlier, a message circulated that the federal government had declared May 25 a public holiday.
However, the Pakistan Private Schools Federation (APPSF) said all schools would remain closed on May 25.
APPSF President Kashif Mirza said that the exams of the board of examiners will be held on schedule, but classes will resume regularly on schedule on May 26.
Mirza said all summer holidays across the country will begin from June 15 to August 14, adding that schools will reopen on August 15.
Meanwhile, the president also said summer holidays in Sindh province will start from June 1 to July 31.
