Southampton has been 1-9 against Liverpool in the English Premier League since February 2018, but on Sunday they get the chance to close the gap a bit. Southampton will try to defend their home ground against Liverpool at St. Mary’s Stadium. The timing isn’t great for Southampton: they’ve struggled with four successive defeats at home, while Liverpool have taken three successive wins on the road.
Southampton’s recent rough patch turned rougher on Sunday after their fifth consecutive defeat. They picked up a 3-1 goal in the losing column at the hands of Brighton & Hove Albion. That is two games in a row now that Southampton has lost by two goals.
Liverpool, on the other hand, have not lost since April 1 and they too continue that trend. Neither they nor Aston Villa could get the upper hand on Saturday and so both teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw.
