Kristen Stewart is about to have the ultimate on-set reunion. On April 12, Deadline reported that the “Diana” actor will star in a new road trip comedy called “Sacramento” alongside her former “Speak” co-star and ex-boyfriend Michael Angarano.
“Sacramento” follows a free-spirited young man named Ricky (Angarano) and his best friend Glenn, who now lives a domestic life with his wife, Rosie (Stewart). On an impromptu road trip from LA to Sacramento, the group’s past comes into focus and they question everything. Angarano co-wrote the script and will also serve as the film’s director.
Michael Cera has signed on to play Glenn in the film, while Angarano’s real-life girlfriend, Maya Erskine, will also appear in the film as Ricky’s on-screen wife, Tallie. That means he’ll be tasked with directing his ex-girlfriend (he and Stewart dated from about 2005 to 2009) while also acting alongside his current girlfriend.
But based on Angarano’s glowing comments about his cast amid the “Sacramento” green light, we doubt there will be any awkwardness. After all, like Angarano, Stewart has moved on happily with her fiancé, Dylan Meyer.
“We feel grateful and very excited to make a movie like ‘Sacramento,'” Angarano told Deadline about the film. “Chris Smith and I started writing this movie years ago after one of our pilots failed to pick up. We’re honored to be working with this incredibly talented cast and crew… It’s been quite a journey, but we are finally ready to start making a movie.”
Details on “Sacramento” are scarce, but fans will surely tune in to see Angarano and Stewart cross paths again on screen.
