Latto and her sister, Brooklyn Nikole, are serving up plenty of energy at the 2023 BET Awards. On Sunday, the duo appeared in matching black ensembles for culture’s biggest night at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater. The 24-year-old rapper and her younger sister appeared to be having a good time as they made kissing faces and poses together on the red carpet.

Latto is one of this year’s BET Awards nominees for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist and Best Collaboration for her “Big Energy” (Remix) with Mariah Carey and DJ Khaled. In 2022, the rapper took home the Best New Artist award, beating out Muni Long, Tems, Baby Keem and Yung Bleu.

In April, Latto spoke to Apple Music about the importance of sisterhood not just in music, but in life. On why she constantly feels inspired to work with other women in the music industry, Latto said (via Yahoo): “I feel like it really started from my roots. I come from a one sibling household, and that’s a sister. So really, sisterhood is embedded in me.” She added: “I look at women like my sister, I don’t know how to explain it. I look at rap, female rap, as a sisterhood because I come from a close relationship with my sister, a close relationship with my mom So it stems from just literally being a fan and not being shady or not being what people expect women to be . Not being what men set the tone for women.”
