Luis Enrique has reportedly decided to join Atletico Madrid. However, the Spaniard will have to wait for Diego Simeone to leave the Wanda Metropolitano.

According to El Nacional, Enrique wants to take over as the next Atletico manager, but is awaiting the club’s decision on Simeone. The Spaniard has also been linked with Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea. Spurs are in the market following the sacking of Antonio Conte earlier this week following his explosive post-draw interview with Southampton.

Meanwhile, Enrique said he had not yet made up his mind about his future. He told SER Gijon on Wednesday (March 2) that he is interested in managing the Premier League, but that is unlikely to happen in July:

“Since the World Cup was over, I haven’t read the Spanish press. I haven’t looked at social networks. I only read the English press. You can’t pretend to like everyone or control what they say about you. “It’s about being calm and enjoying the things you like. I’d like to go to England and work.”

He added:

“But I don’t see myself in the Premier League in July because I would like to go to a team there that can do important things, and that’s very difficult. I wouldn’t go to any Premier League team. I’ve had offers .” of national teams, but not of clubs. It should be a very important team to make it, although it would be very difficult for me to play against Spain. I don’t know if I would be ready.”

Tottenham Hotspur want Luis Enrique to replace Antonio Conte

Tottenham Hotspur are looking for a new manager after the sacking of Antonio Conte. They also have Julian Nagelsmann and Mauricio Pochettino on their wish list and want the appointment made as soon as possible. Alex Crook said on talkSPORT that Spurs want Luis Enrique:

“It’s going to be a long process. I was told yesterday from a reliable source that they want to have a shortlist of three in the not too distant future. I do think Luis Enrique will be on that shortlist. That’s one to get into When it comes to (Julian) Nagelsmann, we know they’ve had talks with his reps, not directly with him yet.”

Pochettino and Nagelsman are also on Real Madrid’s radar, so Tottenham could find themselves in a battle over the signature of either.
