Injuries add up Manchester United and Erik ten Hag will need to adapt to keep their Europa League hopes alive while hosting Seville in the quarter-final first leg on Thursday. Marcus Rashford is expected to miss both games of the tie while from Luke Shaw fitness is also in the air. United have had a good run but most of that was driven by goals from Rashford so someone will have to step up in his absence.

They also hope to capitalize on Sevilla’s poor form as the team have won just one of their last three games. Sevilla struggled defensively conceding two goals in two of those three games and if United get chances to score United can make a team pay even without Rashford.

Here are our storylines, how to watch the match and more:

Storylines

Manchester United: Without Rashford, the pressure will be high Anthony Martialis to score goals against a Sevilla team where he had a short loan spell in the past. Martial was effective when healthy, scoring seven goals and assisting two more in just 800 minutes played. Opportunity creation is also a bigger problem without Shaw but Bruno Fernandes be able to dictate the game during the match. After not being able to train this week due to a knock, Scott McTominay will be a game time decision. Alejandro Garnacho and Donny van de Beek will also miss the game.

Seville: After fetching Luke Ocampus back from suspension, Sevilla are closer to a clean return account of health. They still have long-term injuries to Joan Jordan and Jesus Corona. Pape Cheikh Diop is not eligible to represent Sevilla in the Europa League. With most of the side at his disposal, manager Jose Luis Mendilibar can concentrate on making the side score in the game. With a 13th-place finish in La Liga, this is essentially Sevilla’s only chance to secure a European spot next season.

Prediction

Without Rashford it will be a battle for Manchester United to get the ball into the back of the net. It won’t be enough to see them lose to Sevilla, but a shaky game will see both teams go to Sevilla on April 20. Choose: Manchester United 1, Seville 1
