Maren Morris was an honoree at the 2023 GLAAD Media Awards — and she dressed like one. The outspoken country singer attended the ceremony in New York on May 13 in a striking purple sequin dress with an asymmetrical neckline and one long sleeve. The brightly colored floor-length dress also featured cut-outs at the waist and a hip-high slit, resulting in a practically open side.
Morris completed the outfit with clear, pointed-toe heels, creating the illusion of a glass slipper, as well as diamond earrings and several silver rings. Her purple eyeshadow matched the dress, while her bob haircut appeared to be the shortest hair in years. She debuted the dramatic heel on Instagram a few days earlier.
Accompanied by her husband, Ryan Hurd, Morris was on hand to receive the Excellence in Media Award, recognizing her LGBTQ+ activism and affiliation. Morris recently performed at the Love Rising benefit concert in protest of Tennessee’s anti-drag law. Before that, she used an insult of Tucker Carlson (“insane country music person”) to create merchandise to benefit Trans Lifeline and the GLAAD Transgender Media Program. The t-shirt raised $100,000 in one day.
Ahead, you’ll see photos of Morris celebrating in sequins.
