Nation observes ‘Youm-e-Takreem Shuhada’ to pay rich tribute to martyrs

The country celebrates Youm-e-Takreem Shuhada-e-Pakistan (Martyrs Reverence Day) today (Thursday) to remember and lavishly honor the martyrs who gave their lives defending the motherland and its people.

Numerous events of Quran recitation and prayers have been organized across the country, while the main ceremony is held at the general headquarters, Rawalpindi. In addition, several memorial ceremonies will also be held at the memorials of the martyrs.

The gatherings are intended to serve as a platform for the nation to honor the courageous heroes and their indomitable spirit and unwavering dedication. Martyrs of the Pakistan Army, Rangers, Frontier Corps, Frontier Constabulary and other law enforcement agencies will be remembered.

President Alvi and Prime Minister Shehbaz are proud of the bravery of the martyrs

In his message, President Arif Alvi said that the whole nation was proud of its brave martyrs who showed the spirit of patriotism and fearlessness in difficult times throughout history.

“The nation is indebted to the heroism and sacrifices made by the jawans (soldiers) and officers of our Armed Forces including Pakistan Army, Rangers, Air Force, Navy, Police and other security institutions who have rendered the defenses of Pakistan impregnable “said a press release. issued by President Secretariat Press Wing stated.

The president recognized the services of the armed forces for knocking down the threat of terrorism and assisting compatriots during natural disasters and pandemics.

“On this day, let us pledge never to forget our brave martyrs and reiterate our commitment to always honor them and express our undying love for these brave sons and daughters of the nation,” the statement read.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif urged the people, especially the children, to visit monuments and graves of martyrs and place flowers on them as a sign of affection and respect. He said Pakistan must show the world that it is a nation that holds its martyrs in reverence and affection.

He said that the Day of Reverence of the Martyrs was celebrated to pay glowing tribute to the heroes and to show unflinching solidarity with their families.

In a detailed tweet, the prime minister deplored and condemned the May 9 violence and the desecration of martyrs’ monuments, saying the incidents gave the enemy cause for celebration.

Our nation knows how to protect the honor of their martyrs. […] Today we revive and reiterate our pledge to uphold the honor and respect of our Shuhada. The essence of Pakistan’s existence lies in the spiritual bond between the people and the martyrs,” PM wrote on Twitter.

In addition, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of the Staff Committee, the chiefs of three services, retired service officers and civil society representatives also paid tribute to the martyrs of Pakistan, an Inter Services Public Relations statement said.

They said Shuhada’s sacrifices are eternal and will continue to inspire future generations of compatriots.

“These sacrifices will never be forgotten, regardless of the vicious propaganda of Pakistan’s enemies,” it added.
