ISLAMABAD: The chairman of the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD), Colonel (Retd) Amirullah Marwat, has been dismissed from his position, it emerged on Thursday.
The coalition government had twice sent summaries for him to be removed, but President Arif Alvi did not follow the advice.
Since the president is out of the country, acting president Sadiq Sanjrani approved the government summary to remove Colonel Marwat.
Appointed in 2019 for a five-year term, the former chairman was a member of the National Assembly after winning the election on Pakistan’s Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) ticket.
In a summary sent to the acting president, the government stated that the former chairman of the NCHD used his office to further his party’s political ends.
Col(retd) also posted derogatory content against state institutions on social media, the summary added.
