The Indianapolis Colts are leaving no stone unturned as they search for the franchise’s next young quarterback. The club owns the No. 4 overall pick at the 2023 NFL Draft and has already jumped head and shoulders into each of its top prospects.
This week, they’re going to look even better as NBC Sports reports they’re ready to field all four top QB prospects: Alabama’s Bryce youngthe state of Ohio C. J. StroudFlorida Anthony Richardsonand that of Kentucky Will Levis. According to Sports illustrated, the Colts Young and Stroud will work out in Southern California on Monday, giving them a better idea of the consensus top-two prospects as they continue to prepare for the draft. The team prefers to emphasize in-person visits over daily attendance, as more time can be spent individually with each prospect. The athletic.
While Indy gets a chance to work out all of these quarterbacks, he’s not exactly in a great position to pick from the litter. There are two QB needy teams ahead of them on the draft board, so two of these signalers may not even be on the board once they’re on the clock. Stroud is one popular choice to become number 1 overall to carolinawhile Young has been routinely pegged as the second quarterback to hear his name called out to Houston.
In that scenario (and assuming no team trades with Arizona to take a number 3 QB), the Colts would have to choose between Richardson and Levis. The pairing of the Kentucky product with the Colts has gained some steam in competitive circles, according to ESPN. Kentucky coach Mark Stoops even told the network, “All I can say is that the Colts did their homework on Levis.”

The 23-year-old initially attended Penn State before moving to Kentucky in 2021. Last year, he completed 65.4% of his passes for 2,406 yards, 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while boasting a passer rating of 151.9. He also led the Wildcats to a Citrus Bowl win over No. 15 Iowa to close out the 2021 season.
While Indianapolis may be linked to Levis here, it seems his draw stock has soured lately. He had been a popular top-10 pick throughout most of the design process, but that may be less certain than originally thought. In his most recent mock draft, CBS Sports NFL Draft Expert Ryan Wilson drops Levis to the No. 23 overall pick and ends up with the Minnesota Vikings. As for the Colts, they traded Wilson’s mock to number 7 and selected Oregon cornerback Christian Gonzalez.
Meanwhile, Levis is CBS Sports’ third quarterback in this year’s class and the No. 8 overall. Currently Colts freshman head coach Shane Steichen has Gardner Minshew, Nick Foles and Sam Ehlinger in the position to work with.
