The earthquake struck late Friday evening, with the epicentre 72 kilometres west of Marrekesh, a major economic centre.
A powerful 6.8 magnitude earthquake has shocked Morocco, sending pulses from Marrakesh to Rabat.
The United States Geological Survey estimates that the epicentre of the quake was approximately 72 kilometres from Marrakesh, the fourth largest city in the country.
No immediate reports of casualties were available.
