BOSTON: US President Joe Biden has appointed Shahid Ahmed Khan to the prestigious President’s Advisory Committee on the Arts (PACA), the White House confirmed through a May 12 statement. The news reported Sunday.

An institution steeped in history since its inception in 1958, the PACA has been a steadfast pillar of support for the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

The commission serves as a nationwide roster, intricately interweaving the nation’s artistic consciousness and expanding the center’s vision.

Its hand-picked members, often leaders within their respective communities, are recognized as ‘ambassadors for the arts’.

An illustrious personality in the Greater Boston area, Khan brings to the PACA a rich wealth of experience spanning more than two decades in international affairs.

His focus on the Asian and Muslim world is reflected in his tireless work as a community leader, political consultant and entrepreneur, advocating for American values and principles through sustained dialogue and engagement.

Khan’s illustrious career path includes important roles as a trustee for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and as a member of the advisory board of the Democratic National Committee.

His pivotal role as co-chair of national finance for John Kerry’s 2004 presidential campaign and his subsequent advisory roles in numerous US campaigns underline his strategic acumen and commitment to public service.

In addition, Khan was instrumental in encouraging the South Asian American community during Biden’s presidential campaign.

Khan, a recognized luminary in South Asian affairs, also founded Triconboston Consulting Corporation, bringing his expertise to companies in the renewable energy, IT and healthcare sectors.

“Khan’s addition to the President’s Advisory Committee on the Arts is cause for celebration,” said a PACA representative.

“His rich experiences, deep insights and unique perspective promise to strengthen our mission and expand our influence immeasurably.”

This appointment honors the meaningful contributions of Pakistani-Americans to the social and cultural fabric of American society, and demonstrates the influential role they continue to play in shaping the country’s future.
