Real Madrid enter the game in search of their first Copa del Rey title since 2014 on Saturday against Club Atletico Osasuna, runners-up in 2005. Los Blancos travel to Seville out of the running for this season’s La Liga crown, threatening the losing second place to bitter rivals Atletico Madrid, but Carlo Ancelotti’s men are still in contention for the UEFA Champions League, which could make this the first part of a rare double given that Real won the Copa in the 2000s only won twice.

For Osasuna, this would be a historic result for the Basque team as it is only their second final ever appearance and the first since their defeat to Real Betis 18 years ago in extra time. It was no small measure of revenge that the men from Pamplona threw out Los Beticos on their way to the final, where they also disposed of the regional powerhouse Athletic Club after Seville. Real beat bitter rivals Barcelona and beat Atleti and Villarreal to get here.

Here are our storylines, how to watch the match and more:

Team news

Real: Ferland Mendy is out due to his calf problem, but David Alaba and Luka Modric can still manage as they fight to prove their fitness. Karim Benzema was rotated for the loss against Real Sociedad, while Vinicius Junior and Eduardo Camavinga are back from suspension. Aurelien Tchouameni could start with Modric not quite fit yet, while Federico Valverde could drop deeper to meet Rodrygo in attack.

Possibly Real XI: Courtois; Carvajal, Militao, Rudiger, Camavinga; Valverde, Tchouameni, Kroos; Rodrygo, Benzema (c), Vinicius.

Kike Garcia, Juan Cruz, Aridane Hernandez and Moi Gomez could all start, while Sergio Herrera has been the chosen Copa goalkeeper so far and the 29-year-old should start again here.

Possible Health XI: Herra; Moncayola, Aridane, D Garcia (c), Cruz; Torro, M. Gomez; R Garcia, Oroz, Ezzalzouli; Kike Garcia.

Prediction

Real should be close to getting this one over the line, but should be wary of this underrated Osasuna side who could easily cause a shock if Ancelotti’s side don’t show up. Jagoba Arrasate’s men are 10th in La Liga but will be motivated by the sense of opportunity and missed opportunity against Betis in 2005. Choose: Real 2, Osasuna 1.
