Saas, Bahu Aur Flamingo EXCLUSIVE: Homi Adajania talks about his repeated collaborations with Dimple Kapadia

Homi Adajania’s Saas, Bahu Aur Flamingo is out tomorrow, and this will be his sixth project with Dimple Kapadia. In addition to this show, they have also worked on Being Cyrus, Cocktail, Finding Fanny, Angrezi Medium and the upcoming Murder Mubarak. In an exclusive conversation with Pinkvilla, Homi talks about his comparison with the Bobby actress. “I sometimes have to convince her not to take the part. (But) she comes with all weapons on fire. She says, “I’ll kill you if you don’t put me in your next project.” So I don’t get a choice. I absolutely love her to death, she is a very good friend of mine. I have the privilege of her unconditional trust and so in every role she plays with me, she is willing to push the limits beyond her imagination,” says Homi.

He further adds: “She is willing to do that because of the trust we share. We never blur the lines between our friendship and the professional relationship between director and actor. We keep that sanctity and that is why we manage to break up good work. I thought at first because I enjoyed working with her, and then there was a bit of a comfort zone to get into the next movie and put her in it, (despite) there wasn’t much of a role in Cocktail as the mother . Then it was very clear to Finding Fanny that I wanted her.

Homi Adajania explains, “After that everyone was like, ‘She’s in every movie of yours,’ but then she said, ‘I don’t care until you make movies, I’ll be in every project of yours, and you have no choice. Even if there is no leading role, I want to walk by in the background. I do not give a hoot. I want to be with you on set because we’re having so much fun with you on set.” Now I really feel that if I don’t use her in a project it will be incomplete.”
