Security around the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has been tightened awaiting the appearance of Pakistan’s Chairman of Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, who has left for the federal capital to secure interim bail in nine separate cases. set.
A heavy contingent of police was deployed around the court, while barbed wire and containers were also placed to ensure law and order in the area.
The police have also banned the access of unrelated persons to the IHC.
Khan will appear before a two-member bench headed by Chief Justice Aamer Farooq, who had warned the former prime minister about withdrawing bail over his continued absence from the court, at the previous hearing.
To ensure Khan’s safety, the district administration has made strict security arrangements, while the lawyers and journalists are allowed to enter Courtroom No. 1 with a special pass.
Only 15 lawyers are allowed to accompany Khan in court and 10 lawyers from the Attorney General and the Solicitor General’s office are allowed to attend the hearing.
On Wednesday, Chief Justice Aamer Farooq, while hearing Khan’s bail requests in two separate cases involving the threats against officers of the armed forces and the attempted assassination of Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) , on that the law was very clear and equal for everyone.
“There was no precedent for exemption from appearing at bail hearings.”
According to his lawyer, barrister Salman Safdar, Khan skipped yesterday’s hearing because of pain and swelling in his leg. However, after seeing no leniency by the court, the lawyer assured the court that the PTI chief would appear at today’s hearing even if he did so in an ambulance.
