Shahid Kapoor says people thought Kabir Singh would reach a limited audience: ‘It ended up being my biggest hit’

Shahid Kapoor, who was last seen in the OTT series Farzi, is gearing up for the release of his next movie Bloody Daddy. Shahid will be featured in an action avatar in Bloody Daddy, and the trailer was released today. At the trailer launch event in Mumbai, Shahid Kapoor talked about the film and what it was like to make an action movie. He also shared that no one can predict what the public wants to see. He said that people thought his 2019 film Kabir Singh would reach a limited audience, but it ended up being his biggest hit.

At the launch of the Bloody Daddy trailer, Shahid Kapoor said: “People thought Kabir Singh would reach a limited audience and it ended up being my biggest hit. Nowadays nobody knows what the public wants to see. Let’s learn again, let’s become students again. Things we grew up with have changed. If your product is great, it will find its audience,” he said.

Shahid added that he recently did Farzi, and he got an “insane” love for it. “A good movie is a good movie and a bad movie is a bad one. Everyone goes into a viewing experience with expectations and we hope we live up to them,” he said.

Shahid Kapoor in action sequences in Bloody Daddy

Shahid also spoke about the action sequences in his upcoming movie Bloody Daddy, saying he was simply following what director Ali Abbas Zafar said. “All credit goes to Ali. He understands action that is cinematic and gritty. It’s not like an amusement park where people fly. The action here is very raw, delicious, edgy and sexy. It is a very interesting combination of a subject that is driven by emotions. Action goes hand in hand with emotions. Ali and I have known each other for many years, long before he made his debut as a filmmaker. I am proud that he has come this far as a filmmaker,” he said.

Apart from Shahid Kapoor, Bloody Daddy also stars Ronit Bose Roy, Diana Penty, Sanjay Kapoor, Rajeev Khandelwal and Ankur Bhatia among others.
