
Six Pakistan Army soldiers embraced martyrdom and three terrorists were eliminated in a fierce firefight that erupted in a remote part of the mountainous district of North Waziristan, the army said on Thursday.
The statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army’s media arm, read: “An exchange of fire between terrorists and friendly forces took place in Dirduni general area, North Waziristan district.”
It added: “Three terrorists were sent to hell while wounding another two”.
The six brave ones who – after fighting bravely – before being martyred are: Havaldar Saleem Khan (aged 36, resident of District Tank), Naik Javed Iqbal (aged 37, resident of District Kohat), Sepoy Nazir Khan (aged 26 , resident of Bannu District), Sepoy Hazrat Bilal (aged 25, resident of Mardan District), Sepoy Syed Rajab Hussain (aged 22, resident of Orakzai District) and Sepoy Bismillah Jan (aged 22, resident of Khyber District).
The military wing statement added that a search operation was underway to clear any active threats in the area.
“The area is being decontaminated to eliminate any terrorists found in the area.”
In addition, the statement ended with a determination to ensure that terrorism was eliminated from the country.
“Pakistan security forces are determined to eliminate the threat of terrorism and such sacrifices by our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve,” the ISPR statement said.
Last week, three soldiers of the Pakistan Army were tortured during three separate encounters with terrorists in different parts of the Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), according to the army’s media department.
An ISPR statement stated that on the night of April 27-28, security forces bravely repelled three terrorist attacks at different locations within a short time frame in Lakki Marwat district.
A suicide bomber on a motorcycle self-exploded near the district security forces post, followed by a fierce firefight between the troops and terrorists, it added.
The two other encounters took place in the Amir Kalam and Tajbi Khel areas of the district, eliminating three more terrorists, including terrorist commander Musa Khan.
Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the seven killed terrorists, the ISPR said.
