KARACHI: In conjunction with the Education Department of Sindh College, the Government of Sindh has issued a policy for granting admission to the first year of the Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) to assist students seeking admission into the desired colleges. The news reported.

In addition, a new college zone system has been launched for the Karachi region.

Officials said a meeting was recently held between the provincial government officials and the education department to provide a policy so that students who have completed the entrance examination and wish to continue their education will not face any difficulties in obtaining admission.

The government has issued a policy in this regard, with instructions for the management of the colleges.

The order issued reads: “The College Education Department has approved the procedure for granting first year admission for the 2023-24 session in Sindh Government Colleges under the Sindh Electronic Centralized College Admission Program (SECCAP-2023-24).”

Under SECCAP-2023-24, candidate applications will be received on the website from June 27, with the last date for online application submission being July 20, which can be extended to August 1 if necessary.

The issuance of placement lists of all faculties for admission to colleges will be guaranteed by July 25, and classes at colleges will begin on August 5.

It was also mentioned that only A+ and A class students are privileged to get into a college of their choice; however, they will have to submit a commitment that their attendance will be 75%.

On the other hand, students with B, C, D and E grades will apply in their concerned nearby zones.

In addition, a new college zone system will be introduced in the Karachi region this year to allow students to access the nearest colleges.

The regional directors of Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sukkur and Larkana will be responsible for creating a zone system for student placement in their respective regions.

Admission will depend on ninth grade results, and students with current and permanent addresses in Sindh on their parents’ ID cards are required to submit their residence PRC before their examination forms.

Students whose parents’ identity card has a different address in another (current or permanent) province must provide their VRC residence at the time of admission.

All colleges are required to compile notified admissions committees consisting of their teaching staff and submit them to the DG office.

No university is authorized to issue an admission form, card or uniform itself.

The Director General Colleges Sindh is appointed as the Chairman of the SECCAP Committee 2023, and the Regional Director Colleges of Karachi, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sukkur and Larkana, and the Office of the Director (Inspection) DG are appointed as members of the Commission.

The deputy director (inspection) bureau of DG Colleges Sindh is appointed as member and secretary of the committee. The Chairman of the Committee may be authorized to nominate and appoint the members of the SECCAP Committee 2023 from among the Directors and Professors of the Government Colleges in all regions of the province.

College directors will be held accountable if an admission is granted in colleges below the merit and cut-off points of the colleges or outside the list provided by the SECCAP.

In addition, the IT department of the DG office will be responsible for providing and publishing the placement and merit list of faculty and gender-sensitive students.

After the issuance of the placement lists, a sufficient number of claim centers (male and female) will be established to rectify any grievances of the students.
