UFC superstar Conor McGregor took a little too seriously during halftime of Game 4 of the NBA Finals between the Denver Nuggets and Miami Heat. The former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion hit Heat mascot Burnie with a few punches during a skit in which McGregor promoted his line of cooling pain-relieving spray. As a result of the shots, the man behind the Burnie costume was taken to a nearby emergency room for treatment, according to The Athletic. He was given pain medication, sent home and is reportedly doing well.

The confrontation was obvious in the script, as Burnie was wearing a boxing jacket and gloves, but McGregor probably put more power into his punches than expected. In the future, NBA teams will likely think twice before asking McGregor to participate in skits like this.
McGregor hasn’t fought in almost two years after breaking his leg in a lightweight bout with Dustin Poirier, so maybe he had some extra steam to blow off. McGregor is due to fight Michael Chandler in the octagon later this year, but an official date for the fight has not yet been set.
The Nuggets went on to pull off a 108-95 win over the Heat in the game, and they now have a commanding 3-1 series lead. They will try to close out the series and secure the first championship in franchise history in Game 5 on Monday night.
