Christine Costner files for divorce from Kevin Costner
While the exact reason behind the split is unknown, Christine, who owns a handbag label called Cat Bag Couture, stated that “irreconcilable differences” were the reason behind the split in the filing. Costner’s rep told People, “It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have arisen that have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of the marriage.”

“We ask that the privacy of him, Christine and their children be respected as they navigate this difficult time,” the representative concluded. According to TMZ, Christine is filing for joint custody of their three children. The Yellowstone star filed his response to the divorce filing on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, and also filed for joint custody. The duo, who married in September 2004, have three children together, 15-year-old Cayden, 14-year-old Hayes and 12-year-old Grace.
According to the filing, Christine is not asking for spousal support. “Spousal maintenance must be paid to the petitioner under the terms of the parties’ prenuptial agreement,” said Kevin’s lawyer Laura Wasser, referring to a prenuptial agreement between the former couple. A few months ago in November 2022, Costner told People, “My wife does things that just totally… It just helps. The house is nicer because of her.”
“Everything is warmer because of her. There are those little things that she does and I think it’s the power of love, but that’s how she makes her home,” he added. During the pandemic, he spoke about their relationship, saying: “Our partnership has really come into focus on what we do for each other and how we treat our family. Our home is like a river: you just have to get into its flow. And whatever you thought it would be, maybe it still can, but it’s going to have to work with what the day brings.”

The former couple dated for six years before getting married. Costner was previously married to Cindy Silva for 16 years before divorcing in 1994. He shares three children with Silva and has a son with Bridget Rooney whom he briefly dated in 1996.
