Bad Bunny, who made headlines this year for his alleged romance with Kardashian star Kendall Jenner, is in the news again, but for a different reason. The Puerto Rican rapper and singer has been caught in a legal dispute. His ex-girlfriend, Carliz De La Cruz Hernandez, has filed a lawsuit against him for using her voice in two of his songs before he became famous. Yes, you read that right! The rapper’s ex is seeking at least $40 million in damages given the popularity of the singer.

According to the lawsuit, the singer used Carliz’s voice in his song “Pa Ti,” which has more than 355 million views, and the song “Dos Mil 16,” which has more than 60 million views on YouTube. The lawsuit also stated that the two songs were used for promotions, records and worldwide concerts, all without her permission. Carliz has also sued Bad Bunny’s manager ‘Noah Kamil Assad Byrne’.

According to the lawsuit, Bad Bunny’s representative contacted her in May 2022 and offered her $2,000 to buy the recording of her song, citing that the recording would be used in the singer’s upcoming song. However, the deal was never finalized and the songs were published without her consent.

Bad Bunny and Carliz started dating in 2011. A year later, the two began studying at the University of Puerto Rico. The couple also worked in the grocery store in Arecibo. According to the lawsuit, Bad Bunny would ask for her opinion while making songs. In 2016, he asked her to marry him and they planned to get married in July 2016. But Bad Bunny signed with Rimas Entertainment in April 2016 and they broke up in May 2016.
