Start this week TodayJoe Fryer explored the sets of All in the family, The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson And cheers where they are in the Heritage Auctions in Dallas as part of TV archivist James Comisar’s collection. Comisar has officially started finding Archie Bunkers living room a new home, as each of these three iconic sets will be available for purchase by the highest bidder at auction next month. The crown jewel of the collection is clearly the Cheers bar from, well, cheersbehind which Ted Danson once served Boston’s most colorful working star.
While Comisar previously tried to turn his collection into a museum of TV history, he now hopes to pass the sets on to new trustees whose love of ’80s television is as deep as their wallets. There are no opening bids listed on the Heritage Auctions website yet, but we have a feeling the sale price will be higher than Norm’s bill. Hey, maybe Danson will pick up the bill – almost exactly thirty years after the cheers final, Sam may be ready for another round.
